“Wieliczka” Salt mine through the camera lens – prizes awarded in the next edition of this competition

The 4th edition of the photography competition “Wieliczka” Salt Mine through the camera lens” has been finally decided. The charm and beauty of the mine has fascinated and inspired photographers for ages. The objective of the competition, once again organized by the Wieliczka Mine, was to develop the artistic abilities of presenting the magnificent saline undergrounds by the art of photography. Each month, beginning from August 2009 until 31 January 2010, the competition jury consisting of Marta Młynarska, Małgorzata Sęk, and Rafał Stachurski distinguished the best works. The saline undergrounds are appreciated by those renown as well as less known photographers from around the whole world who are sensitive to the beauty of the Wieliczka mine. The received works, stills of chambers, corridors or saline lakes were awarded in three categories: the Saline Labyrinth, the Statues of Kinga, and the Works by Miners. From among these the best photos were selected.

Piotr Mańczak was awarded 1st prize in the category Saline Labyrinth. Distinctions were also awarded to Jacek Mikrut, Marcello Oliva and Patryk Kwela. Only distinctions were awarded in the category Statues of Kinga. Two works sent by Fong Mo Hung and Zbigniew Łata were awarded. The best photo in the category Works by Miners was taken by Jacek Mikrut. The works of Dawid Kamiński and Rafał Widzisz received distinctions.
